St Edburg's Christmas Tree Festival 2023

Written by Cath Moyse - Thu 14th Dec 2023

Wow, what a wonderful family event at St Edburg's again this year. I visited on Sunday afternoon just as it was starting to get dark, and the church was full of people of all ages, wandering amongst the trees and listening to the live music.

LVP's tree, beautifully designed by Eileen and her team, was in prime position opposite the font. The tree, decorated to reflect this season's pantomime, was festooned with golden plaits and yellow paper chains to represent Rapunzel's hair. A tinsel ladder climbed up the front of the tree which was topped with a princess sporting a never ending braid. As much of the panto is set in Dame Penny's hair salon "Curl Up and Dye", we also decided to adorn the tree with many pairs of silver scissors.

Sadly the three day Christmas Tree Festival is now over for this year, the lights and decorations have been removed and the trees sold off for charity. But that is not he last you will see of our decorations. Jackie has taken some of the scissors to sew onto Dame Penny's hairdressing apron, so look out for these when you come to see the pantomime in February.
