Stage building

Written by Cath Moyse - Wed 5th Jun 2024

Saturday was supposed to be the first day of meteorological summer, but you would not have guessed it given the cold wind blowing around Hare Leys Farm. Our task for the afternoon was to transform an empty barn into The Big Shed Theatre ready for our performances of "It's Showtime!" on 20th and 21st July. It may still be six weeks until the first performance, but having the actual stage for the cast to rehearse on will prove invaluable.

Yet again the team amazed me. No need for instructions or directions, they just got on with what needed doing - and what an amazing transformation it was. In just two hours, bare blocks became a stage with back, sides, roof and wings. Anyone would think that they'd done it before.

We even found time to erect a 30 foot long marquee, which will become the cast dressing room, hand some bunting and design tutus for three teddy bears.

Performances of our family friendly summer variety show are at 1:30pm (relaxed performance) and 6pm on Saturday 20th July, and 2:30pm on Sunday 21st July.

Tickets cost £12 Adults and £6 Children, and are available from www.ticketsource.co.uk/lvp (booking fees apply).
